The only people who need to consider acting now are Members whose current Crane Beach Permit expires before September 30, 2023. These Members can renew their Membership and Permit one last time. They must do so before May 1, 2023, and we will honor their renewed Permit through April 30, 2024. Here are the potential scenarios: 


  • New Members joining The Trustees for the first time will buy tickets to Crane Beach using the new tiered-discount model, which will take effect in summer of 2023. These Members will not have the option of buying a Crane Beach Permit this year, and they do not need a Permit to visit Crane Beach. 
     

  • Members whose Memberships and Permits expire after September 30 do not have a pressing reason to do anything right now. Their Permit will be active through the coming Crane Beach season.  

  • These Members may, if they wish, renew their Membership and Permit prior to the May 1, 2023, deadline. However, their new Permit will expire on April 30, 2024, and will not provide them with any beach-access benefits during next year’s 2024 beach season. There is, therefore, not a very compelling reason for them to renew their Membership and Permit now. 

  • We encourage these Members to renew their Membership closer to their expiration date, at which time they will be able to buy tickets to Crane Beach at the discounted rates described above. 
     

  • Members whose Memberships and Permits expire before September 30 may renew their Membership and Permit before May 1, which will ensure that they have an active Permit through the coming Crane Beach summer season. However, we will stop renewing Permits after April 30. Any Members in this category who do not renew before the deadline can use their Permit until it expires. After that, they will pay admission fees based on their Membership level, as described above.  
     

We will stop renewing Crane Beach Permits as of April 30, 2023, and all Permits sold between March 1, 2023, and April 30, 2023, will expire no later than April 30, 2024.  

Starting in May 2024, the new pricing system, based on Membership level, will take effect for all visitors to Crane Beach.
